Our Story

The Schneider Sisters

Samantha and Skylar pedal a cadence of connection.

Beyond the ties of sisterhood, the pair has a long history of cycling together as teammates. And now they’re shifting gears into a joint business adventure...The Bread Pedalers.

...

Spring 2020...Skylar waited to travel home from Spain before the borders closed. Recognizing  the Covid pandemic would apply brakes to more than her cycling career, Skylar opened her mind to possibility. She recognized the unpredictable nature of a novel virus would limit her opportunities to entertain family and friends in her remodeled kitchen. How would she utilize her space and skills…?

Without hesitation or resistance, Bread Club was born.

Skylar crafted an invitation for friends and family to order home baked Dutch oven loaves for pick-up or delivery. Her reasonable target of ten loaves per week at the starting line was surpassed by twenty orders. Bread Club started with a sprint.

As the calendar pages flipped from one month to the next, Bread Club expanded its offerings to include new styles of bread, cookies, pies, cheesecake, and a rotating variety of baked goods. Just before Thanksgiving, Bread Club acquired an additional oven to make space for consumer appetite.

From the beginning, Samantha supported Skylar’s vision.

Taking a step into The Bread Pedalers’ business venture allows Samantha to bring her real estate and business practice into harmony with Skylar’s passion for kneading dough. The Schneider sisters are embracing a new challenge with complementary skills.

The Bread Pedalers opened their doors on October 1, 2022. Since the opening, the bakery has expanded their staff from three to nine people. Each employee brings their own set of skills and wealth of experience to the table and keeps everything rolling smoothly while Sam and Skylar continue to race professionally around the World. Skylar has represented the US National Team in the past two World Championships and in 2023 she won the Elite Pan-American Road Race Championships in Panama. In 2023, Sam has won two of the biggest professional criterium series in the USA (Tulsa Tough & Intelligentsia Cup). Balancing owning a bakery & maintaining their level of two of the best female cyclists in the US has not been an easy feat, but worth it!
